Shopping for boots...
« on: June 16, 2011, 05:51:20 PM »
I'm shopping for my Fathers day/Birthday (6-22, cash is graciously accepted ;D) gift from my wife and new boots are on the short list. I've never owned bike specific boots and would like to try a pair. One of my major wants, within a reasonable budget, of course, is for them to be waterproof. Comfortable enough to walk in is also high on the list, as I rarely carry a change of footwear for once I reach my destination. I want a higher boot, but not a full calf to just below the knee, so 9 to 12 inches in height I think. Style is subjective, so I'll make that decision on my own. What are you wearing or what do you suggest? Thanks.

That guy needs tighter pants!  :o

I have a pair of Tourmaster Solution boots that I bought a couple of years ago.  Waterproof, well made.  They're everywhere on the internet for $116 and never seem to go on sale.  They're a real good value.  IMHO

Good boot for the $$$... I buy these or Oxtar/TCX Matrix's.  Both are great waterproof boots... the later seem to be warmer in the winter.

I'm actually looking at the Joe Rocket Sonic boot right now, any experience with these? The Tourmaster and TCX look almost identical, anyone know if they may be the same manufacturer? My wife wears TCX boots and likes them alot, though hers are not waterproof.

The Tourmaster and TCX are made by different companies... totally different materials, double the price on the TCX too, if you can find them.

No personal experience.  But I see a lot of negative comments on Joe Rocket products in general.

I had a pair of JR overpants several years back... not the worst product I ever owned, but I wouldn't but them again.

Seems the Sonic boot is not all that waterproof, and has had some quality issues too...  do some research and reviews on them.

You might want to do some reading here...

Those pictures, I need brain bleach, my kingdom for brain bleach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I'm in the market for riding boots too, the ones I wear now tend to get stuck on the fairing the odd time.  And my feet aren't that big either

Did you get that picture in a tweet too?    :rotflmao:

I know two years from now someone will search this in the archive and not have a clue what we are talking about, but it is really funny now!
