Title: Slimey Crud Run - May 2013
Post by: ManWorkinghere on May 06, 2013, 07:02:07 AM
Probably the best weather they've had for the spring Run since I've been taking part (5 years), and I had to miss it.  :mad2:

First time visitor to SCR and I get the best weather in years!  I am blessed with Dumb Luck.

The forecast called for partly cloudy, mostly sunny skies.

I arrived around 1030 to find the Red Mouse Bar and Kalscheur Park already packed with bikes.  And more were coming all the time.

I started walking around looking at the bikes.  There were lots of generations represented.

I tend to favor a certain kind so I took a few pictures.

This Dark Green one looked almost black in the sunshine. (https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-e_OieMzUGUA/UYb6gq0ufKI/AAAAAAAAClw/vi4X4wjTpvQ/w369-h276-p-o/IMG_2427.JPG)

(https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Xfr0IV7DVlE/UYb60RRt5cI/AAAAAAAACmI/mMlzyerBenA/w161-h214-p-o/IMG_2430.JPG) (https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-iXw_-M4w5L8/UYb6tpeSgJI/AAAAAAAACmA/qUZWXAAb5ec/w285-h214-p-o/IMG_2429.JPG)

I am considering getting a tank bra like this one. (https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-posh43ktXdc/UYb7bKbtAUI/AAAAAAAACmw/kUKBTnt1tBI/w369-h276-p-o/IMG_2435.JPG) (https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-8Tu3zwH4J68/UYb7kFrSEcI/AAAAAAAACm4/NoUY5eQxZvY/w369-h276-p-o/IMG_2436.JPG)

I had not seen a cut-down, blacked-out windshield like this one before: (https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-deLMGUMC2Bo/UYb78lnRLyI/AAAAAAAACnY/wTy2F5DOvDE/w369-h276-p-o/IMG_2440.JPG) (https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-vqqT3EfuF3M/UYb8CQwq6GI/AAAAAAAACng/brWrl1lhnOU/w194-h258-p-o/IMG_2441.JPG)
Nicely done!

(https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Im5cM00USIg/UYb8VxtntCI/AAAAAAAACn4/VG2x4JNiqGY/w369-h276-p-o/IMG_2444.JPG) (https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-pSe1eeahX8U/UYb8cdtuEAI/AAAAAAAACoA/5sM_OGMyUlg/w369-h276-p-o/IMG_2445.JPG)

Nice Givi trunk idea with backpad.  With cruise control and iPad for directions, looked like a nice riding setup.

Finally, another COG member bike!
(https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-uDm1eVo_5j4/UYb97IHc0VI/AAAAAAAACp4/U2tWONqwlX4/w194-h258-p-o/IMG_2463.JPG) (https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-LJD_eUTxG4A/UYb-A8Vw0RI/AAAAAAAACqA/xjqlDfybyic/w194-h258-p-o/IMG_2464.JPG)
And a well traveled one too.

This silver C-14 came from Iowa.  Rick asked me why take a picture of his dirty C-14.  He explained that he shoveled 11 inches of Snow on Thursday just to get the bike out of his shed.

More silver C-14's around.
(https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-1ID1p3Fi2Vw/UYb_M_16oYI/AAAAAAAACrg/56N5AeMAwc8/w369-h276-p-o/IMG_2476.JPG) (https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-fyefO6v2n9w/UYb_Y14_peI/AAAAAAAACrw/Ux3pMpmDXWY/w344-h258-p-o/IMG_2478.JPG)  (https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-DNXN1BF9ra8/UYb_e8BjkWI/AAAAAAAACr4/Vyps547XyWI/w194-h258-p-o/IMG_2479.JPG)

And silly things were there also:
(https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-qIMU4a8VBlI/UYb_lxQ6DFI/AAAAAAAACsA/9HOwj1E-o30/w194-h258-p-o/IMG_2480.JPG) (https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-q8CmA7Wx_ko/UYb_rGmBFmI/AAAAAAAACsI/3L3-knsrtwg/w194-h258-p-o/IMG_2481.JPG)

(https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-5wuVf9l3_IQ/UYcAK9o7d2I/AAAAAAAACsw/rNj0dsxUtfw/w194-h258-p-o/IMG_2486.JPG) (https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-7j2CNAW4LKQ/UYcARmHsmhI/AAAAAAAACs4/i6s44MFE9Rw/w344-h258-p-o/IMG_2487.JPG)

So after an hour of walking around bikes, I took a break with a Brat and my bottle of G2.  I then headed over to Leland to see what the other end of the SCR looked like.  I followed my GPS and other bikes out through the countryside.  Colors are coming back to the trees and fields.

I parked on one side of the road and took off my riding gear as the Sun was shining down brightly.  TIP: Plan where to park if you want to leave right away.  I got parked in rather quickly.

Before leaving, I met Bob and Mike and Roger from Cedar Rapids, IA.  Bob and Mike just got C-10's so they were asking me about my Baker Air Wings, Murph's tip-over bars, and the Kuryakin dropdown pegs on my ride.  I gave Mike info on the COG forums so we shall see if they appear there soon.

Good ride home under pleasant skies...

Sorry to have missed you in Leland, JS.  It was a Beautiful Day for riding that's for sure.

Gang,
Was feeling bad, didn't see a picture of my Connie.  :(  Checked original post date, MAY 2013. Guess there was the reason.  :)
The Oct. SCR also had perfect weather. Couple of Connies, old and new style, never did run into anyone I knew.
A couple of my favorites, home built custom with a flat head V/8, shaft drive and if I'm not mistaken a 3 sp. trans. For the chrome, fit and finish factor, the NEW INDIAN was beautiful.
  Can't wait for next year.
