Welcome Mike!

Tip #1 Read the owner's manual. (Ignore the part that says to replace the spark plugs at 7500 miles)

Tip #2 NEVER lose both fobs at the same time, (the big one and the little one).
Have a system that minimizes fob handling, so you are less likely to lose it.
I recommend a brightly colored lanyard and a deep pocket.

Tip #3 Difficult for a new owner to do, (I didn't) but don't hesitate to get new tires, before the OEM ones get very old.

Tip #4  Ignore all the folks that tell you that the OEM muffler is big and ugly, unless you think it's big and ugly too, and
you thought that way before you heard them going on and on about it.  ::)

Welcome!

While tips are being offered, kill the engine before deploying the kickstand. When I first got my Connie, I kicked it into first gear going for the stand. Luckily it died, but it did jump forward a bit. I'm sure now that I'm used to it, I could find the stand without kicking it in gear, but I still kill it first.

Sorry to preach. How about some pics?

Candy Cardinal Red is the color no mods planned yet looking into tank protector and some clear protector foe the side storage so don't scuff them getting on and off.

After you get a scuff or two you don't mind as much.  Gives the bike character.

That is a nice color.  Congratulations!

I step through the seat instead of trying to swing a leg over.  Have to step through when the trunk is in place, so just do it all the time.

Hold off on getting handlebar risers until you get used to the bike.  I thought the grips were too far away from me, but once I got used to the position, I decided no need for risers.

+1.   Especially Tip #4. Some people actually LIKE to ride their motorcycle with an abhorrent 35 pound muffler. Nobody  I  have ever heard of but I'm sure there is one somewhere.

Ok, so just ordered a radiator guard and back rest from PCA so the missus feels more comfortable  and secure to start riding with me :). Only rode with me on my FZ1 once and she was too nervous after that and I was going  easy too.

Now you have met one.  I have never changed the exhaust on a bike or cage.  My used mean streak came with aftermarket pipes when I bought it.

I would have kept the bazooka if I hadn't gotten a smoking deal on a Leo Vince on this forum. I couldn't believe the weight difference.

On a another bike, a Honda Valkyrie I bought it with aftermarket Cobra exhaust. Hated it and found a used set of OEM pipes and changed it back to stock.
