Tour of Honor 2017
« on: February 06, 2017, 10:46:38 AM »
Once again Dave and Steve Brooks have organized the Tour of Honor ride. http://www.tourofhonor.com/index.html For those of you without knowledge of this event, it is basically a "scavenger" hunt to find memorials throughout our country, which commerates our fallen heros of the Armed forces, police and fire depts.
What this ride consists of is, looking at the memorial list and visiting 7 memorial sites, but not required, and taking a photo of your bike in front of the memorial site. There are trophies for the top finishers. The rules are thoroughly explained on there website. I encourage you to look up a memorial site in your area, and experience the pleasure of visiting these sites. Then I believe you will want to be a rider in the Tour of Honor. There is a small registration fee, which will include your rally flag which is required to be present in the photos. A portion of your registration fee goes to one of three charity foundations of your choice. This will be "A ride to Remember".

They also have "add-on" rides which include: http://www.tourofhonor.com/pages/extremerides.html. As some of you may have read in the Fall issue of the Concourier, I participated in their Flags Across America ride last year. After seeing my first VFW with a huge American flag mural painted on the building, I was instantly addicted to this ride and was eager to see many more. I can proudly say that I was at 31 VFW's and took 4th place in this ride. I will admit that I was sandbagging on submitting my required photos at the end in hopes of getting in the top 3. However, the top two finishers had a serious battle of there own going on.

So come on folks, lets get registered for this great event, and help the great people that serve our country to make it the great place that it is. Your already on the road touring, so why not add in a few memorial stops. Trust me, it really add a bunch of enjoyment to riding.

Anyone care to challenge a better finish than 4th place by a woman?

Here's the link for the registration. http://www.tourofhonor.com/pages/register.html

Safe riding

Tour of Honor is great. I started riding the 2015, only Arizona and New Mexico, did 7 States in 2016. See what I can do in 2017.
