Concours Virgin in FL
« on: September 06, 2015, 08:19:03 PM »
Hello all, newbie here. After looking on Craigs list I can now say I am the proud owner of an 05 Concours all stock except for Dale Walker Holeshot exhaust and jet kit with K&N airfilter. So far I have done valve adjustment, carb sync, oil and rear end oil change. Also fixed a leaking oil seal on the water pump. So far loving it except for the windshield. The wind just catches the top of my helmet. Thinking of a clearview with adjustable vents. Being in FL i would like to have some air flow to keep me a little cooler. Anybody have experience with these or any thing better to suggest?

Welcome to the forum, nut. I've got a Rifle windshield system but live in northeast Iowa so I can't really comment on how it handles the Florida heat.

welcome, from another Floridiot, mid FL in Lake County.

Having had a Clearview with vent, a Cee Bailey with the same vent and now a Rifle, I like the way the Rifle works. What really seems to be the cat's meow now is Madstadt. Ultimate adjustability and they are made here in FLA, Dade City. You can do a ride in and they will give you a discount cuz of no shipping and install for free. Good folks over there and people like the shields. My '99 has 223xxx miles on it so I'm not gonna invest. Fixing to get a replacement bike in the not too distant future.

What really helps in the heat are Brian's heat shields and Baker air wings. The wings channel outside air right on you and can swing out to protect in the cold and/or rain.

Check in over at the COG site from time to time for events going on if you wanna get out and meet some folks and see what's been done to their rides as far as farkling. You do not need to be a member to attend. We do have a breakfast meet coming up at Biketrailerfest on Sat morning, with at least two and probably more heading down to the AIMExpo afterward. Also various RTE's(ride to eat) show up and there is a fresh post on a free camping weekend the end of Feb in Fellsmere, though there will be a charge to help cover the chow and such. And another camp out in Jan with the NEFBMW club. We will have a contingent there.
