Title: 3rd annual Laborday Buckeye Bash!!!!!
Post by: Pokey on July 24, 2011, 11:15:48 AM
Instead of posting a bunch here, feel free to follow the link to Stromtroopers. I have had a great turnout for both events, we have allot of fun and ride the best roads OHIO has to offer "trust me, there are some incredible roads here"!!!! I want a good turnout for Concours owners, all riders are welcome except pirates and squids! ;)

I didn't see much info in the stromtrooper thread.  What is the location?  Is this camping in a state park or something?  I would really like to make the trip and ride some of Ohio's great [paved] roads.  Since they won't even have a decent football season I will be happy to strut around Buckeye nation with a Mizzou or if I am feeling really naughty, a Michigan shirt!   ;D

edit: I just saw post #38.  I will try to make plans to attend, if you have room.

This just might be doable. Since the COG Rally is out for me this yr., this is better then nothing, and it is a lot closer to home.
Might see you there guys, ride safe all.

This is at my buddy Glen's place.......he has 3 acres and an incredible barn. We are only minutes from some of the best riding in the state, and heading further East you will hit "the best" riding in the state. We ride our asses off.....eat well....drink well.....and tell lots of lies!!!

Here is some great reading from last years event............  http://www.stromtrooper.com/events/50424-post-up-if-youre-coming-2nd-annual-labor-day-weekend-rally.html (http://www.stromtrooper.com/events/50424-post-up-if-youre-coming-2nd-annual-labor-day-weekend-rally.html)

Sounds great, I always love drinking and hearing stories about from someone older and most definitely wiser than I (especially if those stories have creative lies that keep it interesting).  Looks like some great roads from what google maps shows.

Jeremy are you coming from Missouri? That's sweet! And there are a lot of kick butt roads in the
Buckeye state.

Yes sir, I plan on leaving Friday the 2nd early am that way I can make the 500+ mile ride before sunset.  I really look forward to riding through that area, I know that WV has some great roads and Ohio is considered the NW part of WV right?   ;D

I always give my Buckeye loving friends a hard time about anything that I can, and my motorcycle brothers are no different.  I guess we'll see how strong OSU is this year without Pryor and Tressel.

Allot of views........just sayin!

That is something that I usually don't do while I am riding, maybe I should stop more to take in the scenery instead of blowing through to find that next sweeper.  I usually only stop for fuel or food so I look forward to seeing some new sights.  The covered bridge and river overlook definitely caught my attention, in last years thread.

I meant views on this thread, but very few responders! :rotflmao: Now most of the roads we will be riding, you want to be focusing 100%.......or you are gonna get bitten!

It's ok Pokey, you have had more replies to your bash thread than I have, and my thread has been up for well over a month.  I guess since I am the new guy nobody wants to come try my BBQ since they don't know if I can cook or not.

Come on out, I will show you some of the best Missouri has to offer.  I feel that is only fair since you will be showing me around your neck of the woods.

Would be hard for me to pull off, especially since I am hosting a rally previous to that. But.........I am wanting to take a trip your way next year, so hopefully we can do it again then. ;)

Ya 'll know something.....organizing one of these things is a pain in the a??, I did it a lot on BMW forums, but I have met a couple of members that want a local ride---I know its a holiday weekend ,but if some could pull friday/sat it really looks sweet (shameless plug) or sat/sun (then ya don't have to put up with my skinny ass ;D)..................this being said locals know we have kick ass roads lets ride...and maybe party a bit!

Mike   (full disclosure.....still working (hard) to be there)
Are we gonna let the Stroms have all the fun-I already had to jealously watch them once this year!!

Taking the Friday off work is not an option for my Buddy Luke (my brother from a different mother ;D), so it looks like we're riding all night on Friday(after work), arriving in Millersport around 5-6 am.on Saturday. Also, I am trying to convince my US Marine Buddy Rich (another brother from a different mother ;D) to join us on this trip, so may have to hook up with him in Allegany,NY. If it rains on Friday we may have to trailer our bikes down there. At this point, I don't want to inconvenience anybody.....but if Luke gets the Friday off, I will try to hook up with Tom from Stromtroopers.(I highly doubt that.....he's saving his days off for our trip to BRP two weeks later, fyi).
BTW, did your buddy Matt(BTD) sell his C-14 yet? If not, Luke might be interested in it, he's looking for one in the USA!

That all sounds like a great plan!!!!!! My bud Matt sold his C14 in record time, it was totally immaculate......better than new. I am trying to get Capn Bob and Jim to come, but so far I have had no luck. :(

Hello to the Buckeye Bashers. I've been reading about this ride for the the past hour or so and it sounds awesome. I live in Ohio, ride a C14, like to ride twisty roads at a spirited rate, drink crown royal and listen to lies. So I have to be there! I've got a tent and all. What did I read about first timers and pranks????

If you contribute to the telling of lies, have a sip or 2 of Crown Royal............then I am sure you wont be hazed too bad. 8) Pretty much all the guys that have come to my first 2 rallies, are all coming back so I reckon that is a good sign that they had fun. I will just be happy if nobody goes down or gets a flat tire this year.....that would be a first. :o Looking forward to meeting and hanging out, what part of OHIO are ya from?

I live about 7 miles due north of where I70/I75 cross. (Dayton area). Im somewhat familiar with southeastern Ohio as I lived in Athens for 2 years in the early eighties. Put over 5k woods miles on an KDX400. College studies suffered greatly. More recently my daughter lived in Nelsonville/logan area so I did some limited riding around there.

I would love to get there, more than anything, but my shoulder and arm (pinched nerve) are giving me fits at the moment.  Rode 300 miles the other day (work related) and I'm still paying for it.  I really hate this s***.  I nearly cried the other night thinking about I may have to think about not riding again.  It's also affecting driving autos as well.

Have you tried acupuncture treatment? If not, do your research and give it a shot! Friend of mine had severe facial paralysis.....making a long story short...,all the MD's he consulted told him that he will never regain any movement on one side of his face( due to severe nerve damage); thanks to Chinese acupuncture practitioner, he has regained full movement except for one eyelid!

Per my first post, yes I am going. And it would be great to ride over with you. Time and date are fine, what route are you taking? I may not ride to the north of springfield if we just end up on I70 anyway.

David,
Well.......I was going to do the "round about way there route", you know about those kind don't you. It is only 80 miles from my door step to there, so I was going to do a little more riding, staying well S of Columbus, maybe go down 56 and a few othere roads I know.
If your going to hit 70, hows about we meet at the Speedway at 70 & St. Rt. 54 in So. Vienna. It is an easy jump to 56 from there, I know all those roads by heart.
Say 1 to 1:30, we can gas up, hydrate and then roll.
Let me know what you think.
Ride safe all,
Greg

Wow...
What a great Rally and Ride. A great bunch of V Stromers from Canada, Georgia, Indiana, that state up North, and of course Ohio. Connies from Ohio, a KLR from Columbus and a Gold Wing from home.
Thanks Glenn for the use of your massive concrete slab for parking, side yard for tenting, and garage and barn for taking cover for the storm that ended up missing us.
Thanks to Brian aka: Pokey for organizing this thing, and of course the great mix of personalities.
Sat was a solid 260  mile ride on 555, 260, 26, 7 and a couple roads that were great surprises.Temps were well into the upper 90's with road temps well over 100. Our group did lunch in Fly, Oh. on the river and Rt. 7.
We came back to Glenns place to some awesome pulled pork, potato salad, baked beans, and plenty of beverages to re-hydrate, not sure the medical pros recommend massive amounts of beer to re-hydrate though.
Just a great time had by this author and hopefully all involved.
Thanks so much again, and lets do it again soon.
Everyone ride safe out there.

We will for sure be doing this again next year, great times were had for sure and new friends made!!!! It really is fun to put faces and personalities together, from what you think you know from folks online........I have yet to be disappointed. Now I expect us OHIO boyz to be getting together regularly, and you never know what burger or pizza run may pop up as well. ;)

I had a great time at the Buckeye Bash. Special thanks to Pokey Brian for all the planning and hard work that went into this ralley. Also special thanks to Glenn for hosting the event and leading a spirited ride on Saturday. I learned many good roads and did get them recorded on the gps. One of the guys from Canada helped me understand how to find the routes inside the gps. Got home to find the storm we never got in Millersport had done some serious damage saturday night all around my area.

Thanks to all

Sounds like a great time, sorry I couldn't make it, mama was getting her motorcycle endorsement and I coach youth football.  I was thinking about you all when I was standing on the field saturday afternoon.  Glad you all had a great time.  Let me know when the next ride is, please
Thanks
Boone

Wish I could have made it but my wife insisted that we had to spend the day with her parents at the lake.  Oh well, there is always next year.  Looks like you guys had a good time.
