Is there a seat that doesn't slope forward?
« on: June 22, 2019, 01:16:26 PM »
I've researched this to death and always find someone says the available aftermarket seats slope forward. I don't even find my 2017 seat uncomfortable except for the migration towards the tank.  Or I should say my pants get traction on the seat cover and I migrate towards the tank  :-[.  I have even considered a corbin since I figure it would be less painful than the stock if it doesn't slope.  I've owned several over the years and said never again after two tries with a my C10.  I like to put in 10 hr days and this seat is too painful  :'( only because of the slope.

I can't stand the stock seat for the same reason. I tried several other seats and all of them were vast improvements. I settled on the Corbin because I was able to get a used one at a good price. I've done several 1000 mile weekends just fine. I recently put the stock seat back on and 150 miles were a killer. Now with over 62000 miles on the Corbin I feel it was a good choice.

I have the Kawasaki touring seat, it is much better then Stock, but it still slopes forward but the material of the cover doesn’t let you slide into the tank like the stock seat does!

Looks like I will be looking for a Corbin.  I had one on my KLR that was actually quite good and softer than a board.  That was when I gave them another try on the C10.  It makes me wonder if they ever test rise the bikes more than 30 minutes before production.

The material on my 2017 take-off seat  doesn't let me slide foreward into the tank but if gives me a forward wedgie  :o

Back in the day, some of us sent our seats to Spencers... http://www.greatdaytoride.com/home.html. He was able to remove the forward slope, lower the height, and add some gel. Priced lower than a full custom or aftermarket. For me, this was enough to eliminate the forward lean (along with my bar risers). Only downside is that you lose your seat for a while (but I don't remember it taking very long to get it back).

Considering I was able to find his website for this post, seems like he's still modding seats.

I had mine made at Baldwin by Loren. Mine was a custom.
Loren will build the seat "any" way you want it.

I have the Kawi touring seat and it fixed just about all of the tank slide issue.  It's made of some kind of grippy material.  Love it a lot!

The Baldwin seat was on my 2011 when I bought it and it does not slant forward. Very comfortable for me.

+1 Kawasaki Touring seat, all day comfort.
Same slope although no sliding forward. Better foam, better cover.

Were there any issues mounting the zx14 corbin?  I may have found one to buy.

I bought one of the old gel Kawasaki seats.  Got it cheap and it's lower and grippy so I like it but it is much harder than the stock one.

There was some but I dont remember just what. I didnt use the middle latches and had to do some adjusment to the back one. Nothing an extra hour and a grinder couldnt fix. Sorry I cant remember specifics. Had it on for 3 years I think

Other threads in the past have also mentioned that you can't just use the ZX-14 seat without swapping/modifying the brackets/latches some.

Yep. I might have done some swapping. I know I did a little modifying but it wasnt to tough. I figured it out!

Just to follow-up, I did the russell day long and did 200 miles today and problem is solved.  Although I still feel a slight hint of slope that might be psychological.
