The B58 Hustler is my all time favorite

Four giant engines with a plane attached!

To the fellow who admires the P40, I met Tex Hill out in Midland one year and was able to chat with him a bit and get an autographed print of one his Tigers.

Also sometimes called the 'Judas Goat' Judas Goat- led animals into the slaughter house and was the only one to walk out. Assembly ship- acted as a focal ship for the bomber streams then headed back to base.  There were various other paint schemes as well.  This particular ship was destroyed in a mid-air collision.  Evidently the color scheme didn't help it for visibility purposes.

Thanks Jim! Interesting, but wouldn't that also make it an irresistible target for the Luftwaffe fighters?

Never mind, read further and saw this:

"They took off and acted as the lead bomber until the formation was up and in position, then they turnt over command to the real lead bomber and went home."

When watch the cockpit VT of these old war birds it brings home how exposed the crew was and how cramp a work space they had.
