That means my 2012 with 73k on it is worth about 3k on trade.

I was looking at the brochure text, they rave about how much low end the VVT gives it.   It does, but they killed it with the maps for the upstream butterflies.  No clue why, it's not louder with a reflash or even with them removed, a friend has them removed and has a PC.  Must have been emissions or mileage, most likely the former.

I would agree with VirginiaJim-these bikes are keepers.

I've had my C10 for 14 years, and love my new-to-me 2013 C14.  Hopefully I'll still be riding it 14 years from now-if not, I'll leave it to my son.

Intake noise is much louder with the reflash.  Any reflash on the C14.  Not sure why you don't notice it (unless maybe you have a non-stock muffler), but I certainly did... immediately... most people I have talked to notice there is much more intake noise in the area where they choked it after a reflash on the C14.  Noise is one of the 3 reasons for the yucky stock programming:  Noise regulations (mostly pushed by the American manufacturers in the 70's, I think it was, and still on the books, to try and destroy the competition of much more powerful engines from Japan), emissions, and MPG.

I had the same dead spots on my carburated ZRX-11 that the C14 had (although the more powerful C14 showed it even more).   And when I "fixed" it with a jet kit- all that deadness disappeared, and the intake was much louder, too.  Although not as noticeable as on the C14.

Really, few vehicles of any type have much resale value.  Most especially if they are in excellent or superb condition, because that rarely seems to matter in the "value" (and certainly doesn't to insurance companies).

I don't see anything on that listing that says it is new or any mileage....  That is quite an amazing price for an almost current year, if it is new.  The dealer would likely be losing significant money.   I paid $16k for mine (OTD), and the current list (NOT OTD) is $15,600.

You should have come up to Ultimate Cycles. Got mine for 11,700 + TTL and 36 month extended warranty was right at $13k OTD. A 2 hour drive could have saved you $3000.

Yeah, that is a $19,000 MSRP base (and the 2019 "+" model is a jaw-dropping $25,000), so me thinks something is fishy going on...

yep, Ultimate has been a great dealership, and has worked with us to provide one of the lowest prices on the KPP extension plans since around late '08 early '09 IIRC... that's when I first met Pete, the fellow that runs the operation... and he answered my requests for providing an "affordable" price...

I only wish he was running Ultimate when I purchased my '08 in July '07... I would probably have saved money... but at $14,230 OTD, it likely would have been hard, as it was the intro bike...
He's been a stellar person tho thru out the last decade.

on a lighter note, we were tossing that same bike the o/p linked to, over on the other forum....

it's a dealership, and subject to price 'changes" and numerous add on 'fees'...

but, they did have amazing prices... if I wanted a new old stock bike like a  Versys... I'd be on it like flies on poop...

Did a little digging. I’ve been to Salem IL. There is only one Kawasaki dealship there. They have the same bikes listed on their website for the same price as the cregslist ads.

"Advertised pricing excludes applicable taxes title and licensing, dealer set up, destination, reconditioning and are subject to change without notice. Pricing may exclude any added parts, accessories or installation unless otherwise noted. "

They could have one, that is magically not available.  I have seen that happen many times on car dealerships (loss leaders and/or bait-and-switch).  Or add thousands in misc "fees" and "services"- although I wonder how much they could get away with before Kawasaki would take notice.

I mean, it is "last-year's model" at this point (since 2019's are out)...  And Kawasaki does throw incentive (which is usually 5% to 7% or something for the first year, from what I have seen).  But we are still in 2018 and 35% below MSRP seems impossible.

you are, in fact, correct.... they only have ONE there for sale, they have multiples of other models tho, when perusing the "showroom" lists... also, only one H2 leftover at reduced price... again, bait, and switch...

In some cases, dealerships get kickbacks and incentives based on high volume for a particular manufacturer. If the volume is high enough the manufacturer incentives for a dealer that moves a lot of bikes is enough for them to not worry about what they make, or in some cases even small losses because the incentives more than make up for it. I know Romney Cycles does this with Suzuki.

It is possible that this dealer is either at that volume of sales, or is at least trying be with aggressive pricing. Realistically, $9999 is not that far off what other dealers are selling C14’s for. Ultimate had a 2017 priced at $11,100 + TTL and fees early in 2018. That is only a $1101 difference.

Sales tax is high in Illinois. The dealer could be trying to keep the pricing competitive to get more business from both in and out of state customers.

Same dealer owns a Honda dealership here in town. If someone is seriously interested, not just curious, I could run it down.

Don’t forget to add dealer prep, shipping, marketing fee, enormous document fee, etc.
As for the noise with a reflash, I read a review on the zx14 years ago and it said that one of the reasons for keeping the secondary flies closed was to meet noise regulations .
