Lowering
« on: August 30, 2013, 11:03:29 PM »
I just picked up a new C14 and I'm a bit on my tip toes at stop lights , My ZX14R  is lowered and much more to my liking .. I'm a bit worried about lowering the C14 . I'm wondering if lowering it would cause a problem with the drive shaft angle ? I would be using Brocks adjustable links since I'm a Brocks dealer ( shameless plug ) ..What would be the safe amount I could lower it ? Can I also raise the fork tubes in the triple trees like I have done on my ZX14R ? I want to keep the handling as is, so lowering it front and back may just keep the handling close to factory as possible  ..
  Thanks for any info ..

  Lee ..

Lowering will not hurt shaft.  Maximum safe lowering is about 1".  Yes, you must lower front to do it correctly and that requires bar risers.

if you do raise the forks, pay very close attention that they do not contact the bar risers at all, make sure you leave at least an 1/8" gap there.
There have been a couple people that have had the risers crack because they shoved the fork tube up and wedged that are, it caused stresses in the casting, and eventuall broke the riser...
