Overflow Tube Leak Poll

I don't doubt that a press fit is superior to the JB Weld/minimal, but loose clearance fit, but I did the loose fit with JB Weld when it was all the rage about 2 years ago (or was it longer ago than that).  Yes, the little donuts of JB Weld came off after a few months and I have never had any leaks.  Come to think of it, I believe quite a few people did them this way, and I haven't heard of any leaks.

So, I will ask the question, did you install overflow tubes with the minimal, but loose, clearance fit with JB Weld and have you experienced any leaking?  Leaking or not, how long have you had this set up in use?

Tubes are a sliding fit into a shouldered hole.

1st attempt with Permatex #1 gasket sealant leaked like a sieve. Replaced with household 2-part epoxy which has held up nicely since 2008.

follow up to OP- I just did a repair on a set of bowls that were done by an owner. The holes were out - of round, and the epoxy had failed, allowing the tubes to basically fall out. I had to drill to the next size brass tube and do a press fit. If you're going to do your own bowls, it's not rocket science, but if you mess up it can be costly. Go slow and be precise, or you can ruin your bowls - hth, Steve

I did my own press-fit with JB Weld.  The JB doughnuts fell off, but the press-fit is still OK, two years now, no problems.
