Wow @ Dodge EcoDiesel
« on: February 20, 2014, 09:31:17 AM »
Hmmm time to pick up a few Chrysler/Fiat shares? 8,000 People Ordered a Ram 1500 EcoDiesel Without Even Driving it Yet!?

Quote
The 3.0L EcoDiesel option was added to the Ram 1500 lineup this year, with the first allocation going up for purchase on February 7.  Less than three days later, the entire 8,000-unit order had been filled; accounting for an all-time high special-order rate, twice that of the corporate average.

Been wondering when someone would do that. Been driving a 1/2 ton for years and have never needed a 6.0L with a gazillion ft/lbs of torque.

I've been hearing for years that one of the Manufactureres was coming out with a 1/2 ton Diesel. So I've been watching.
Dodge/Ram finally did it.
I looked at one at the recent Car Show in Houston.
Seemed impressive. But the guy at the display didn't give out much information.
Little that I got was V-6, approx. 460 Ft lbs of torque, good mileage figures, nice looking truck.

Only really bad thing is the min. price to get into a Diesel 1/2 ton was supposedly $50,000.

Ride safe, Ted

There is a good write up on it at allpar.com.
I have a funny feeling folks won't be as happy with it as they think.

Road & Track gave it truck of the year again , first time they gave any truck the award two years in a row , only because of the small diesel . eight speed transmission .
I own two Rams one is the 5.9 other 6.7 Cummins 115,000 other 135,000 miles I love them.
I also have a Dura Max 6.6 I've had my share of problems with the Max, not the Cummins.
I don't buy anything new anymore $$ 2005 was my last new truck , never again $$ you drive it off the lot and lose $10,000 to $15,000.
Stick some Timbrens on the rear axle and your good to go , I use Timbrens on all my trucks .

I'm a diesel guy , I've got  12 diesels some with  over 14,000 hours that I've only put a water pump on and they run like new, diesels rule in my book because they are so carefree, just change the oil and filters.
Road/Track  talks about REAL world mileage not window sticker lies.
