Road side assistance
« on: May 21, 2011, 07:54:03 AM »
I was thinking of joining either kawasaki or ama for the road side assistance for a trip coming up in july. What are you all using? Does AAA cover motorcycles? Triple a would be best since I can get discounts on other things too but I saw no reference to motorcycles on their website.

I use Kawasaki. I think AAA will cover you if have AAA Plus. I suggest you verify. I once used AAA even though it wasn't covered. They were kind enoguh to call someone, but I had to pay.

Good question. I've been thinking about it too. I received solicitations from both and am interested in other people's opinions & experiences.

Check your insurance company.  I got roadside with my policy.  Kinda strange, I know, but I got it.

If you belong to AMA which I'm sure most motorcycle riders do, if you have auto renewal with your credit card you get free roadside service.

I used to have AAA, but same thing needed to add the Plus.  I ended up going with the roadside assistance on my car through my insurance company, and added the auto renewal with my AMA mebership.

I have not had to use it ...  YET...  but I have heard some good stories about the AMA roadside asistance.   One other nice part, is that hopefully being part of the AMA the recovery team should have some experience with M/C and be able to get you to the nearest repair place and/or home?

State Farm does not offer rsa for motorcycles and I called AAA and its available but you have to pay an additional $35 so the plus packages with m/c coverage is $134.

I have it through my insurance company, Nationwide for about $9 a year.

AMA  has about the best deal going for independent RSA. With AMA you get some other benefits too and if you need RSA...they make sure they send a motorcycle friendly "tow"....

AAA- $134
Ama- $39.95
Kawi- $29.95

I think I am going to go with ama since they will cover your bike and other vehicles. If I read correctly it will cover your spouse and children too. Not bad for $40.
