Help, need a discontinued part
« on: July 12, 2012, 09:19:49 AM »
I need to reassemble my front fairing, and have discovered that the inner cowling bracket on the right side has been missing the entire time I had the bike (exlains why the right pocket kept coming loose).  On Bikebandit it's part #11045D, and associated screw.  Here's the fiche: http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycles/1990-kawasaki-concours-zg1000a/o/m150232#sch48090/

I tried ordering this bracket both off of Bikebandit and Ron Ayers, but both of them say the part has been discontinued.  What can I do now?  I don't want to reassemble it without it.  Does anybody have this bracket they'd be willing to send by any chance, or an idea for a substitute?  If I could work with metal, I'd try to make one myself, but I can't.

Yeah, the only option is paying for a complete front fairing.  Nobody is selling this one stupid little part by itself.

Hmm, can't seem to make it work.  It's under Body and Fenders, then Cowling.  It's where the letter D is, and then if you scroll down a bit you'll see a drawing of 11045D and its screw fitting into the bottom of the right fairing pocket.

BikeBandit let me add both of those parts to the shopping cart, doesn't mean they have them I guess.

It does look like an easy part to make yourself, but I'd try to find someone that has one or someone with the same bike so you can look at it first to see exactly what it is that you are trying to make.

Their page indicates that 11045D (11044-1922) is available, but 11045B (11044-1909) is not.
Looks like the later C10's don't have this part.

Thanks; just tried ordering from them.  We'll see how it works out, but most likely I'll get an email from them in a couple days saying the part is discontinued.

You might call around to local shops and see if they are signed-up with "Dusty Moto.com" ...when you find one that is...they can check the complete part number (11044-1922) in the Dusty Moto database to see if there is one in this country...

Dusty Moto.com is a database linking old inventory from shops throughout the country...you or I can't get to their info...it's only available to shops that are signed up to use their services...but, it might be worth a shot...

Good Luck!

p/n 11045 & 11045A, HAVE BEEN SUPERCEDED by part number 11044-1908 (RH) and 11044-1907 (LH)

they have virtually been on all 20 years of production, and the 11044 part is currently available.

Wrong part.  11045D is a different bracket.  It connects a plastic tab on the inside of the main fairing to the bottom of the right fairing pocket.
