Don't use a block of wood instead of the center stand
« on: March 24, 2012, 12:53:36 PM »
I like you guys but this isn't the club I wanted to be part of.  I was moving the bike around in the garage taking pictures of the backrest assembly when it happened.  I was using a block of wood under the kickstand instead of putting it on the center stand.  Pure lazyness on my part.  I got on the bike like I do every time with a bit of momentum to the right to get it up but...it was already up so when I gave it that momentum, it went over and there was nothing 135 pounds of me was going to do.  I feel fortunate there was so little damage.  Mostly to my ego.  And its really ironic that I was going to start on the tip-over protection today.
I was planning on repainted it Cadillac Pearl White next year so this gives me that leverage with the wife.

No worries there.  If I wash it three times a year its an amazing thing.  Rain or shine just doesn't mix with wax and polish.

Not exactly.  I bought all the raw materials and was going to start milling the pieces.  I guess now I know exactly where the points of imact are..permanently etched into my bike.
