Rear tire, what and where?
« on: May 17, 2015, 09:04:23 AM »
Catastrophic blowout of my Avon, with low mileage. Looking for a new tire and having trouble locating one. Thinking I will go with a Shinko but am open to input.

You should get in touch with Avon, this should not have happen, and Avon needs to know. I bet they will replace it.

Did you have to clean your shorts after that, Bob? I know for sure I would have.

If you get nothing out of Avon, the Shinko 777HD has had very good reviews over on the "other" C10 site. I had one last year on the 2002 and had one mounted recently on the 2005.
$89 delivered is hard to beat.
This street bike thing is all new to me.
Snowmobiles-I have a bunch of those.

I got a set of AV65/66, and am getting to the end of the rear and was shopping.  The AV66 is showing as OOS until June 12th, and the AV46 is coming up as discontinued.   The AV65/66 do seem to get more mileage than the AV45/46 set, but the AV65/66 seem more squirrely to me.

I've had the 777, and didn't like it.  I had a pucker moment when it broke free in the rain.  Admittedly I was accelerating lightly in an off camber turn.  But it was a turn I'd taken many times before on other tires.  I had it paired with the 011 Verge front, which I did like.

Have you had any luck with Avon? I had almost the same thing happen with a Michelin tire. At about 250 Mi a big chunk of the tire just came off.  Michelin replaced it. HTH JD
