I have a small problem. I just put fog lights on my C-10. It was 28 degrees this morning, so I plugged in the heated gear. When I slow down (you saw this coming didn't you) the volt meter starts to drop, and the heated gear isn't as warm. I know the ZZR1200 alternator fits. I haven't seen one for a while, does the ZRX 1200 altornator fit as well?

Yes the ZRX alt will fit but it will do no better than the stocker as the output is the same....

You can save a couple of amps for free by replacing the tail light, front turn signals and dash lights with LEDs and disconnecting the license plate light.

That was one of the first things I got ride of.... Thing is big enough to be used on a full sized truck!

Are these LED replacement bulbs or do you need new sockets and all?

in the mean time, remove and clean all your battery cables, and retighten them (skipping this and saying they are fine without actually doing it is only lying to yourself...)
also check closely, the 2 blade inline connection coming from the generator up to the harness, over near  the battery box and main harness there....make SURE that isn't doing a Meltdown....happens more than you imagine, and when it does go south you are outta commision....till you re do them.

Speaking of those connections,,,,,is there anyway to clean the bladed portion of the (any) connector? Maybe even get it bright and shiny  ;D  Some magic chemical?

I'm also thinking of, like the bladed connectors on the J-box, how to clean a really tarnished one.

Vic, my Mac tools dealer showed me a new terminal cleaning kit. It looks like mini blades.... female and male that have a "grit" bonded to them. They are designed to clean several types/sizes of male/female connectors. I haven't purchased them YET so I don't have a review to give. I have also used chemical cleaners as well in the past. I'm sorry but I can't remember the brand/name of said cleaners. I do remember they were a terminal contact cleaner, they were fairly expensive, and did a VERY good job. The greatest advantage to using the chemical cleaner was that it didn't remove any of the base metal of the terminal, only the corrosion. HTH

Oh thanks George, now I'm going to have to tear my dash apart AGAIN so I can put in those LED's you listed.  Well I'll have extra dash bulbs for someone who needs them.

cool, thanks, I'll check out the Mac tools. I also found a local "old school" electric parts house, see if they have the chemical cleaner recomendation. I like the thought of not taking away base metal

Vic, I was doing a little surfing and found a website that has some chemical cleaning products that look promising and aren't too pricey. It is Craig labritories inc. and the product is Deoxit. They even have a "travel/survival" kit that comes in a small hard plastic case for $25.00.

Converting your headlight over to HID will save a bunch of power also.
