Sirius radio install complete (with pics)
« on: April 09, 2012, 05:47:11 PM »
Well I have been gathering the parts for a month or so and finally got her hooked up today.
I used a Stratus 6 radio connected to a Boostaroo amplifier, and Tork X2 helmet speakers.
Sound is great and crystal clear. I got the radio free when I renewed my service, and the
Boostaroo was $59 and helmet speakers were only $45. There be TUNES here !!

Jim,

Haven't looked at the radio unit you have but does it need the Boostaroo?

Thanks

Yes, from what I read before doing this the radio needs some type of amplifier to boost
the audio signal. In your car your radio does the job, but on the bike nothing. The Boostaroo
was the cheapest route I found compared to several hundred $$ for some of the other options.
I will take a picture tomorrow and post it.

Sorry about that. I stuck it on top of the rear trunk lid.

Do you have earplugs on when listening to them? I am curious as to how well the sound goes thru them.

No Sir, I am using helmet speakers that adhere to the pockets inside. That is what picture #3 at the top is.

What I mean is when you are using those speakers, do you happen to also be wearing earplug because of wind noise? I am guessing no but just wanted to be sure. In my case if I take any kind of long ride I like to wear ear plugs and if I was wearing them would I also be able to use speakers like these to play loud enough to hear.

Nice setup.

I also use a boostaroo with my XM setup.   Without it, the audio was weak, and I kept blowing the right earphone.  Cost me more in replacement earphones than the boostaroo.  Wish I had bought it to begin with.

Now I'm using it in conjunction with a Sena SMH10.  Works very well, even with earplugs.
