I just wanted to Jack it up higher, and stick aggressive tires on it right off, for driving here in winter... we get SNOW.. all my pals in the 70's that had Bugs were fine, until the snow got deep enough (maybe 6"-7") and midnight road fun was not fun anymore... the Super Bugs also had damned good heaters, compared to the ones in the 60's...
we get days here with a foot or more on the roads, with slush underneath it... and they have a hard time getting them cleared..
I figure if a jacked up Bug would run in sand, it will easily run in snow...
thanks, I apreciate the insights, and now again looking for a 'runner'... we have a lot of them here, but a lot are totally rusted... great engines, low miles, but the road salt ate them up..
