Title: My C14 crossing a stream
Post by: atilla457 on April 13, 2015, 01:33:17 PM
This weekend, a friend of mine and I went on a one-night motocamping trip in Panoche Road, Firebaugh, CA.  As soon as we took the exit from I-5, it became a dirt road, which was unexpected.  We were contemplating whether to go for it or not; maybe a sign, two riders on sportsbikes came and told us it was a great road, not bad given it's dirt.  that was comforting.  just when we were about to depart, one of them said the stream was deeper than it looked and just keep riding and we'll be fine.  After ~10 miles of dirt, we cam across the stream they were talking about :)

It was fun!

Last, if you plan on going on dirt, I recommend putting the windshield all the way down.  In up position, it was deflecting back and forth crazy.  It seems to still work.

Oh man, slap some knobby's on and you've got a super dual sport tourer LOL. I second the leaving the windshield down, I have a fairly long rough gravel driveway and I lower mine when I drive on it, otherwise that joker bounces like crazy.

At the Robert H. Treman NY State Park near Ithaca, there's a similar stream that you have to ford to reach the campground. I was there with a buddy on 2 bikes, leading the way across the shallow water. I deliberately slowed down to see if I could cause him to  halt and put his feet in the water, but he was too quick for me and went around.

Arghh, you only get to try these kinds of things once.
