B-52 landing at Oshkosh...

So they must have had someone on the crew or someone meet them that is rated to repack the parachute. Weird detail I know but I wonder about weird details like that.

According to the web sites, there was a USAF ground crew waiting on it.  They also had volunteers assist.  I had the same thoughts.  You don't land an aircraft like that without ground crew on a non-USAF landing site.  I'm sure that they arrived earlier.  What I want to see is if they can take off on an 8k feet runway.  I'm sure that they can, otherwise they wouldn't have landed there.  Probably won't have a lot of fuel and will refuel once airborne.

Makes sense to have a ground crew meet them. And I be your correct that they took off with no payload, min allowable fuel and refueled mid-air.

Good B-52 footage Jim.   What was that white & blue prop plane in the video at 2:05?  That looked cool.

This big girl was blowin' around like a kite coming down...

Nicely done I'd say...

I was in a smaller one a few weeks back that couldn't land due to bad weather...we tried three times, and then they hauled us off to another airport a couple hundred miles inland...lol. (Much smaller plane of course - Bombardier Q400)

These pilots amaze me. Great skills.

And just think of all the people out there that can barely drive with 4 wheels firmly planted on the ground at all times;).

LOL, I know eh? A Triple-7 is a big plane to be rockin' and rollin' like that...

We get weather like that here all the time...but the planes usually divert to an airport further inland.

I wonder if these guys circled for a while and got low on fuel and then had no choice?

Maybe one of the pilots on here can tell us what normal protocol is;).

Interesting, National Aviation Day proclaimed by US president FDR is a day to recognize aviation in the USA. But most of the pictures in that USA Today article is of foreign airlines, foreign aircraft at a foreign air show. Even a foreign president stepping off an Airbus. Couldn't find a pic of a US president stepping off Air Force One?

Or how about a few pics from here: http://www.eaa.org/en/airventure/eaa-airventure-news-and-multimedia/airventure-2015-photos

Don't get me wrong, I've go nothing against non-US aircraft and in fact I've always wanted to see the Paris Air Show. Duxford and Farnborough are on my bucket list. Just thought USA Today could have found a few pics closer to home for National Aviation Day.
