Title: Lake of the Ozarks Bikefest (BBQ and Ride SEP 16-17)
Post by: Jeremy Mitchell on May 27, 2011, 05:38:31 PM
If you haven't been to the Lake of the Ozarks before, now is your chance. I live 30 minutes from the Lake of the Ozarks and will be hosting a BBQ and ride on the 16th and 17th of September. The tentative plan is to meet at my house Friday evening (16th) for some BBQ. Then Saturday morning (17th) we will ride some awesome Ozark roads (route is posted) then head up to Osage beach to check out the bikes later that afternoon and evening. There are also lots of live bands playing throughout the weekend. Let me know who is planning to make it.

Here is a link for area hotels if you want to stay in the St Robert area (10-15 minutes from my house).

There are several camp sites within 15 minutes, or you could even pitch a tent in my back yard.

Here is one of the several in the area.

If gPink comes, you two could ride together, he is thinking about riding in from Carbondale.

Do you have hotel reservations?

It depends on where you want to stay (Lake or the Waynesville/FLW area) most of the stuff here is chain style, but if you want to stay up at the Lake there are tons of options.  They are probably filling up quickly since all the pirates ride in and clog everything up.  We do have several nice hotels in the link from the first post.

Here is an option for a mom and pop style place that is 10 minutes from my house and 20 minutes from the Lake.

Not sure where (or who) Chester is.  I can definitely help out with transportation of brews.  The selection in town isn't the greatest but if someone would like we could make a trip onto post and go to the Class 6.  They have a pretty good selection and the price is almost always better.

I did a pre-ride today with my wife and the road was awesome, if everyone wants to we can stop in this tiny little town called Bixby and eat at the general store. They have excellent sandwiches and the service was great for all the motorcyclists.

Here is a pic of the general store.

Arkansas has some excellent roads and I will heading down there in October for a weekend of riding.  I love it so much down there that I have been down there five times between this year and last year.  The roads here in Missouri are also worth the trip, so if you have the opportunity I will try to make it worth your while.  I might not be Bobby Flay, but I can hold my own when it comes to smoking animal flesh.

Are you looking to camp close to the Lake of the Ozarks (30 minutes northwest of my house) or would you like to find a spot close to my house?  You can also pitch a tent in my back yard (you won't be the only one).  My yard is fairly big so there will be plenty of room for you to set up, you can also park your bike in my garage and use one of my bathrooms to get ready if you would like.

Sent you an email Jeremy.

Anyone heading down there via the West side of the Missouri river route as it flows past Nebraska/Kansas?  If you want to ride together, let me know.

Looks like the first river crossing option is St. Joseph to the south or Plattesmouth NE to the north as all bridges/roads between are closed and many roads are severely damaged due to the flood.
