Gas gauge
« on: May 12, 2011, 10:17:29 PM »
My gas gauge stopped working. I rode the bike to the store and it was working fine, showing about a 1/4 of a tank. When I left the store and every since it has showed a full tank. I'm sure no one has been secretly adding gas to it, haha. My question is what could be wrong with it? I have checked all fuses in the fuse box. thanks.

Easy first. Pull tank and get a good look at the wiring, I think a pegged gauge would mean a short to ground, somewhere between the gauge and the sender(??) or a bad sender, or a bad gauge. Neither the sender or especially the gauge are known issues, I would concentrate on the wiring.

Thanks for the advice. I had the tank off last week when I was changing plugs. Took it back off and started messing around with the electrical connector and The gauge started working again. Thanks for your advice.
