I posted a thread, BTC, on riding jackets and you guys pointed me in the right direction. Got a great Tourmaster jacket but it's way to hot when it gets 70F or above.
So, what kind of qualities make a summer riding jacket good? Brands? Any input is welcome, being a noob and all. Thanks

Look at the armored mesh jackets. I have a JoeRocket mesh that replaced the one I was wearing when I crashed a slid a long way down the pavement. That jacket literally save my hide. The JoeRocket has a zip in liner for cooler weather. I believe TourMaster makes a mesh jacket that has an outer zip on cover that protects from the cold, wind and rain. I have used mesh jackets for better than 10 years, I like them.

I have both a Tourmaster Transition Jacket (too warm in most weather IMO) and a Tourmaster Intake Air Series 2 Jacket

I have had the Tourmaster Intake Air Series in up to 98 deg heat and was comfortable (while moving of course). Great airflow and protection. It has two liners (insulated and waterproof). Nice jacket for the price.

Hate to hijack, I have a mesh jacket I got from leatherup about 2 years ago, has the body armor and really like it for summer heat, and in the winter I'll use it as it has a liner as well. I either use it, or my leather jacket when its really cold out. Now I'd like to find some MESH pants. I bought some that I thought were mesh but they are not. I need something for venting, anyone have any ideas, that arent asking an arm and a leg?

I ASSumed the were breathable, they arent lol. Is the firstgear any better ya think?

Love my Teknics from Iron Pony. Elbow, shoulder, and spine padding, and great air even into the 90's. And if your wide shouldered, you will like this style.

Walker, I assume yo have them? do you like them?? Breathable enough for ya? Do they have anything that if I go a size bigger I can tighten them?

Sure do.. I have overpants also, but those are for all the 'other' days. I wear these from 60-65deg and up. Great air flow, but no waist adjustment
or belt loops.. I would think that these could / would warrant suspenders.

I just ordered mine two days ago. I've only have seen excellent reviews. And for the price it's a no brainer.

I went down wearing a Joe Rocket Phoenix. Held up well enough - the one downside was the elbow pad spinning on my arm which resulted in a bit of rash, but nothing severe.
Broken snap in the arm-gathers, but no big holes in the jacket - one small one if I recall.
I didn't replace it with a newer JR - the newer versions seemed lighter-weight than the one I had.
I bought a Fieldsheer mesh jacket w/ armor (don't recall the model name) - it's not full-mesh - has some cordura nylon panels on the back of the sleeves.
Either way - the mesh is only marginally cooler without airflow. Even with Baker air wings, I'm still dripping on a hot day!

I just bought a bilt jacket from Cycle gear, the sleeves are not mesh and get hot! Then again its been in the 90's the last two days here. I need more air hitting me than I am currently getting. the Center of the bilt is cool, the armour is not bad but not very padded for the rider. overall for 90 bucks it wasn't bad just not great.

I took the plunge, took of the windshield. Looks ok with the Rifle base, and OH MY, THAT FEELS GOOD!!!!!

+1 on the TourMaster air intake2. Wonderful jacket. When mine is ready (next year :-X) I will get another one; it just wont be in black :o
I like Leatherup.com If you want some nice riding pants but dont want to look like a power ranger when you are off the bike take a look at these. I have a pair in blue and black. They are sweet going down the road, The air rushes up and keeps the boys PLENTY cool.

I just bought the Rev it Air Jacket and it is outstanding!! Got the Rotor pants while I was at it.
Going on a trip from CA to Flagstaff Arizona. Here is the review. I also made some home
made heat sheilds out of reflectix that slip in my boot and cover my calfs. I have also have the 2fast heat shileds
The Rev It Air Jacket is a very high quality garment.
