Yup, RIP rider. Sad, I saw that immediately as I was watching for the press release of the new '13 R1200GS in South Africa and these news came out before any details. Many of us have read MANY MANY of his articles within the Motorcycle mags in USA and elsewhere.

The part that got me-
BMW canceled the remainder of the two-day press event following the accident.
Our sincere condolences go to Kevin’s wife and three daughters. He will be missed by all who knew him.
