Fork / Front Wheel assembly
« on: May 14, 2011, 11:22:33 AM »
I am planning to install my fork and front wheel/brakes soon. Are there any good (or better) shop procedures or techniques I should know about for proper alignment?
I recall reading a few tips somewhere-  Lets see- fork  spindle nut/bearing nut, top triple, bottom triple, axle bolt, pinch bolts, caliper bolts should have it together. . Any best assembly flow for proper alignment of the various components?
Iirc there was something about flexing the fork to get triple aligned,  something to do  before front wheel axle or pinch bolts snugged,  maybe brakes on to snug caliper bolts?  Little things the manual assumes you already know...
Thanks.

nice,

I used the procedure on this page, it seemed to work well.  It's a little involved, but worth it, IMO.  Scroll down to the paragraph on front suspension

You may need to leave the handlebars off, as they may interfere with the fork caps moving up.
