Good luck with that! Most of us waited for a LONG time to get these bars and won't give them up that soon.

I know. I'm just trying to stretch the dollar's as usual(read; cheap ass;). I am willing to pay full price, but was just hoping to get lucky. Alas, I'm only lucky in love!

As for notching the fairings....a dremmel makes real quick work of it. Just be sure both tabs engage and mark appropriately before cutting

Could you explain this procedure a bit further? What tabs are you referring to? This is my first time with the fairings off. Is it pretty much the same on both sides?
Thanks!

On the Gen 1 bikes all you have to do is to make a notch exactly like the one pictured below (on both sides of course). Then you can install your bars with all the plastic removed and then reinstall the plastic. The notch slips over the top bar of the Canyon cage.

The tabs are inside of the front fairing and that's what holds the 'fins' of the fairing in place.

I just cut the entire vertical piece between the two fins out. The way I saw it once you cut it all possibility of support for the fins is gone. So why not clear the entire path for the cages. And of course it does make removing the plastic with the cages on real easy.

If you cut it as pictured above that lil bit left between the fins will engage the tab inside of the front fairing and support the top fin better. Without that lil bit there's nothing holding onto that fin. Do it however you want, it's your bike.

Exactly what I did, just enough so top still engages the tab as well as bottom.

Notching was definitely the way to go. Was easy to install the cages myself without having to worry about the fairing pieces getting in the way(or getting damaged by a swinging ratchet). I fit the two fairing pieces together on the floor, and marked where the tab ended. I then made quick work of the cut with a hacksaw - about 3 swipes and through.

Gotta admit I missed the fact that there was a tab to engage on the front fair fairing. Now I know. There's that 20-20 hindsight I'm so used to using.  :D

I must say Freds DVD set really made things easier than they would have been.  Lots of good tips and info on them.

Speaking of Ryan, haven't heard anything from him lately.  Wonder if he's wound up in the Kwak PD bike recall?

Got my bars a few days ago and went to put them on today, but realized  my cruise control module is in the way. Have to move things around a bit. The bars do look like a nice product, well built.

I'm still lurking around! I've just been super busy getting other parts designed for some other bikes so I haven't been spending as much time on these forums as when we were building the Connie bars. Anyway, I wanted to ask you about this PD bike recall, I didn't hear about that! There was a Kawi recall on the police bikes?!
