Russel Day Long seat
« on: April 07, 2012, 06:11:40 AM »
I have a seat at Russel that has a build date of the 12th of this month. Does anyone own one of their seats and if so how did you like it? My rear end pain keeps me from enjoying riding for very long so I am really hoping this does the trick.

My current Russell has about 100k miles on it. The fabric is starting to get a bit fugly, butt it all still works for me. Everyone has a different butt, everyone has a different opinion. Normal first day on a trip is 7-900 miles. My longest day was about 1304 miles, on the end of an eight day, 4,8xx mile run to James Bay. The seat never becomes an issue.

I would be thrilled if I could go 150 miles without excruciating pain in the ass.

Only pain you will have concerning a Russell will be paying for it.  However, even that will vanish after you get some seat time and enjoy both the bike and the Russell!  IOW a good choice

I have a Russel for my C14. Fantastic quality and outstanding comfort. But with the wings (not sure if the C10 version has the wings) it is just too high for me. I have to jam myself up against the tank to get my feet down and then I'm still on tip toes. Just a matter of time before I lay the bike down on a stop with any amount of side to side incline. So I'm sad to say I took it off the bike and will offer it for sale this summer.

I have a dual Russell with heavy suspension front and back on my C10.

For comfort they can't be beat on the C10 (IMHO, obviously).
I have done 1000 miles in a day solo, and 600 miles in a day with a pillion.
She loved it so much she paid for half of the Russell we had on my C14.  ;D
Unfortunately we had to sell it (and the guy I sold it to won't sell it back as he says his better half would kill him) but I will soon have a Russell on the C14 again. :-)

Now, if yer into serious sport riding don't bother as they make it damned difficult to get off the saddle but for cruising or touring the Russell is THE saddle.

I have a Corbin, takes a little getting use to but I love it.  Might be the same for Russels?

Oh boy, I am like you. I love my Corbin and I did try a Russel, a very nice one too. Very  'cushy  plush comfy' with great support and a nice backrest.
I sold it. It just did not feel right for me. I tired to like it.I really did.
