Battery install......must be the last to figure this out!
« on: October 30, 2012, 07:21:20 PM »
When installing a battery that has the nuts under the holes in the terminals, trying to thread the wires and then catch that nut (that is too far away and flops around) with the bolt seemed almost impossible. I finally got smart and the evening before installing the battery put a little gorilla glue on the nut and snugged it up against the post. Worked like a charm! No problems screwing the bolt down to catch the nut that is now firmly in place.

Am I the last person to figure this out?

I've not had any issue but your solution sounds like it should work great...

I've always put a little piece of pipe insulation under the nut to hold it against the top and it makes it easy to put the bolt in and thread into the nut, as well as holding the nut in place once you remove the bolt for any reason.

Even simpler, just get a piece of branch or a twig, cut off a sliver, shove it underneath and you are good to go.

We think alike....  I use whatever is handy, even the locking end of a small zip tie will work.

Yeah, I got a charger and electric vest connection that makes it impossible to engage the threads, I also just stick something non metallic under the square nut to push it up to engage the threads, just part of the whole package of getting it started up for spring when I re-install the battery.

I know this might be sacrilege, but I installed the next size longer bolts.   ;)
