1985 Honda Sabre V65 1100cc - how much to ask?
« on: June 03, 2013, 01:05:26 PM »
Nephew selling his bike, got 35k miles and is in very good condition. He is wanting to buy a 2013 Yamaha Stryker. He is into those loud non-fast bikes these days (fascinated by my cruiser). Just thought I ask if you guys got any opinion.

Keep the Sabre. I loved the 1983 V-45 I had. The V-65 must be a blast.

The 03 V45 is worlds apart from the 80s models. The Sabre has a different crank configuration than the Magna.
One has the 180 crank and the other a 360. One is more putt putt and the other is smoother.

I meant to say 1983 Sabre. Sorry.
I never liked the newer Sabres. Mine had electrical problems in the digital dash. Expensive fix.

There's two kinds of 80s digital dashes.
Those that are broken and those that haven't...yet.

Bought a still in crate 1982 first year production V45 Sabre in 1984. Loved that bike, but
had issues with blowing the exhaust valves, looked like a mosquito sprayer going down the road with the water vapor behind me..
After arguments with the dealer and his 'head' mechanic, they had contacted Honda, and the exhaust valve springs were too week.
Once they were changed out, all was well, and Honda did the work under warranty. Great bike, fit me perfect, no mods necessary!
Sold her in the early 90's to try to save a marriage. That didn't work. Stupid me. Saw one just a few years back at a dealership that I popped
in at, sat on it, and it felt the same. But after owning my C-10, there was no comparison in any department, Connie hands down.
Now, I'm really missing the C-10 (Neela) too!
