Did you ever wonder what's going on with the weather on Mars? Wonder no longer thanks to NASA. Now you can access NASA's Mars weather station anytime.

Interesting stuff. Watched the movie "The Martian" again last month. Was wondering about wind enough to blow him a couple hundred yards and almost tip over the rocket but only .7% the pressure of earth's atmosphere. What would the wind speed have to be to blow a man away with only about 1/100 the density of earth's atmosphere?

Yeah, the atmospheric density issue was something Andy Weir said he couldn't write a scientific workaround for that part, so he chose to ignore it. LOL. Gotta love his honesty.

Well, no. But it got me to thinking about flying a plane on Mars, so I'll give you that ;)
I'd need at least a 17 mile long runway, probably more.
I'd be doing over 400MPH across the ground before I had enough aerodynamic lift to get the wheels off the ground.
I'd need "pre-heat" as my engine does NOT like -130f temps.
I'd need an alternate source of oxygen to power the engine. A "trace" amount of O2 in the martian atmosphere just won't cut it.
