Looking forward to the pics and a ride report.

Thank you sir, I'm due pics and posting them now.  Its 99% done but a bike is never done so I'll continue with add-ons in this thread =)

I've slacked on a ride report.  Silly pic though, 150 mile day of ADV riding around the everglades on dirt, and we find a concrete bridge to take a group pic

Wow, I was looking for a pic and hit this thread and realized I never updated it!?  Update, the bike made it to Moab, Death Valley, and all over the SW desert

Great pics. Making me jealous. How much better is it to ride the KTM off road than the KLR? Have been wondering if it is worth it to upgrade from my DR650.

NIGHT and day.  I went from a KLR to the KTM, its no comparison!

But, don't plan on riding the KTM "coast to coast" like i did on the KLR  ;D

But that's exactly what I want to do. Maybe not coast to coast but I do ride multi thousand mile trips on my DR650 in the Rocky Mountains. Have been looking for an alternative for awhile now. All the big bore adventure bikes are plenty comfy but just too heavy to ride off road with my meager skills. But a KTM 680 might just be the ticket. 50% more power then the DR but the same weight (actually a few lbs lighter) than the DR. I want to be able to throw my camping stuff on the bike and get lost for a couple of weeks. That includes lots of pavement as well as dirt.

If you want the KLR style KTM, look at the "Enduro" 690.  You'll give up the "motocross" performance and single-track capability of the EXC line, but it will go the long distances with GOBs more power and much less weight than a KLR
