What I Did Today...
« on: September 25, 2011, 11:24:46 PM »
Here is a map of what I did today. About 550 miles and 11 hours for the ride. Stellar day -- absolutely perfect. Rode with a V-Strom, Speed Triple, ST1300 and three BMWs of assorted flavors.

20 mile road N of Oak Creek is great. And 133/Mcclure pass is one of my favs. Good choice of roads, overall. I'll be getting out this weekend for a good little ride before the weather starts changing too much.

Yes, the speed limit. Actually we made good time because we did not stop to take any pictures (honest officer).

Today we did the McClure Pass/Grand Mesa route. When we did the last 70 miles returning home on the super slab I reset the average MPG and turned on the Eco mode to see if it made a difference. We ran 85 - 95 the whole way with an elevation gain of about 2,000' and I was riding solo. Managed to record 55.1 mpg, which I thought was pretty good since my normal number is between 40 and 45 mpg (running 80 - 100 mph in second and third gear ain't the greatest for gas mileage).

C14-Pilot: I used MapQuest for the map.

Guess that eco mode seems to actually work. I think I've done 50 even a few times, but my average is around 45-47, with the same speeds.
