Title: 2015 Indian Scout
Post by: aspire61 on August 05, 2014, 08:36:11 PM
Okay- this bike has got to be the direct contrast to my concours, but I like it. I grew up on the '80's power cruisers, and watched them grow bigger and heavier as proportionally their power output decreased. In fact, i disliked the cruisers they are building so much, 2 yrs ago I went to the sport touring section. I still long for a new cruiser as an in town bike, but no behemoth and it can't get smoked by every 20 yr old 600 cc sportbike on the road. I never actually considered a 100hp cruiser under 600 lbs would be built in North America, but this bike has my attention! Any others feel the same?

Just one more thought for air-cooled traditionalists- can liquid cooling be considered a replacement for displacement?

558 lbs wet weight, 100hp and under $11,000. This might be a hit. I'd like to give it a test ride.

For some reason I am very attracted to the tan leather over black.  So, I am not sure if that is what is really attracting me to this bike.  Maybe I should recover my Mean Streak seat in brown and see if that is it.  8)

I would bet that to get the 100 hp this bike does not have a single pin crank.  That means it is more like a V-twin sport bike than a V-twin cruiser.

It is liquid cooled. Competition for the V-Rod at 2/3 the price?

So is my mean streak.  But the mean streak also has better suspension, brakes, and sport bike wheels/tires.  Might not be as quick, but I prefer handling over quick.

I like it, an art deco design or scrolled "Scout" would have looked better than the cheap plastic block thing they stuck on it that catches your eye first thing. I would also have liked to see front fender braces but it can't be done because of the calipers. Maybe a springer front end? I do like it anyhow, and I'm not a cruiser type at all, I can't see where they won't sell a lot of them.

Or a two into one black simple pipe ending with a fish tail end.

I would lower the rear end a bit, too much wheel gap for me..
