Way ahead of its time.  Awesome rotorhead design.  No swashplate.

I forgot to mention I work for Boeing.

I was working with a former AF guy the last couple of days that was a crew chief on a KC-135 out of Grissom when it was an AF base...  Brought back quite a few memories for me along with those of the B-52.  You guys really make some good products.

12 years ago we did some work on KC-135 flight surfaces.  It was amazing to see data plates with manufacture dates from the early 1950's.  We were cleaning up internal corrosion problems.  We had to manufacture a lot of our own replacement parts. Not to many customers still flying 707s.
The KC-46 is critically needed before we have kC-135s falling out of the air.

Can't wait til the first flight in early 2015.  I'm wondering if you guys are doing the new bomber...I'm sure there's a prototype floating around somewhere...  It would only be right if you guys did it.

I hope we get it also.  I will be very interested in what design comes out of it.  Sounds like you may have seen the same article I did about a prototype.  :-X

Yeah, I'm tied in to more than a few aircraft groups... :)   But don't worry, I'm sure the Chinese already have the plans as well by now.

I though the US let a contract with Airbus for new tankers.

I don't think so.  There was some controversy over that early on and now it's with Boeing as far as I know.

Good. You would think we would be able to build our own military aircraft. Converting a proven platform like the 767 would be ideal. After all, that's what we did with the KC-10.

The Italian's and Japanese are already using a version of the 767 as a tanker. The KC-46A will be am improved version.  It will have a 787 cockpit.

Here is another cool aircraft (AH6i).  This is the hot rod of the helicopter industry right now.  Serious upgrades from the original MD500.

I used to hook these up on the (Cat) flight deck when I was a young hard charger.

I have no idea how well they fly but I've always liked the A-4 Skyhawk. Relative to jets that came after they look light and small.

They are, I forget the launch and recover weight. But we used a hand held nose steering bar on them to position them on the Cat. Couldn't do that now days. Of course the launch stroke of the cats are almost 100 feet longer than they were on the Oriskany (O-Boat) or Coral Maru.
