Yes, an excellent movie.
The character in that movie named Colour-Sergeant Bourne, played by Nigel Green, for me represents the 'British fighting man' who stood tall all over the world for 300 years. That is my mental image of the British during the climb and at the heights of their time as an empire.
Of course he was not British but South African but hey, in that red uniform, with the odd white hat, it is still the image my mind comes up with when I think of the British kicking ass and taking names all over the globe.
