A neighbor of mine was killed in his sports car several years ago when a delivery truck went under a low bridge. The truck was speeding and when the trailer hit the bottom of the bridge, the driver lost control and the entire rig rolled over on it's left side. Unfortunately, my neighbor was in exactly the wrong place at the wrong time. The truck landed on top of him in his convertible, killing him instantly.
Evidently, there was significant negligence in training for the driver, and others at the company knew that this underpass was not high enough for their trucks. Bottom line, I think his widow ended up getting a settlement in the high 7 figures.
To this day, I will almost stop if passing through an underpass with oncoming truck traffic, making sure they are going to clear before I proceed.
