There's an XB-70 at the Air Force Museum in Dayton.

Isn't that the only one in the world? I think they only built 2. One was destroyed in a tragic midair accident and the other resides at the AF Museum.

Pretty sure it is.  The museum is building another hanger and they'll be moving all those aircraft into it.  Should be more accessible, then.

Yes the one that survives is the first proto. The second, much improved prototype crashed when Joe Walker in an F-104 got pulled across the vertical stabilizers of the XB-70 when he got caught in the right wing tip vortex (flying formation too close and in the wrong spot).

I need one of those with the range capability to deliver to a camp in the middle of nowhere.

No, it's actually quite wonderful.  Gave me goosebumps.  Carry on sir!  :salute:   And it's not off topic.  It's aviation related and that's good enough for me.

I think it is right on topic.  :goodpost:
And besides, Tony LaVier was partially famous with the P38. He was the test pilot and later raced in one. And the P-38 is one of my favorite aircraft.
