If this doesn't give you goosebumps...............nothing will.  In fact, it brought a tear to my eye.

Thanks Jim...

Such an amazing resurrection, I would have never guessed that such a weathered heap of alum could ever be made air worthy again....

I've said before that my father was a Crew Chief on a B29 called Heavenly Laden; and for as much as I love vintage war birds I've never so much as seen a B29 in person...

Funny how they are such rare birds today... Pretty much everyone has seen, touched or even flown in a B17  which is much older...

I did see one of those in the air near Columbus Ohio some years back.  My wife was with me and I kept on watching the bird instead of the road.  I kept on getting my head whacked to keep watching the traffic instead of the B-17.

Before the Pueblo Air Museum (http://www.pwam.org) was opened, all of the aircraft was just parked off the ramp and you could just go into the B-29. I was able to climb around the entire aircraft on multiple occasions. Pueblo CO was one of my destinations for the proverbial $100 hamburger. But in my case with a 7AC sipping 5 gal/hour it was more like a $50 hamburger.

First flight scheduled for B-29 Doc at McConnell AFB in Witchita July 17.  Wish I could see it but it's a bit far away.  Hopefully there will be someone putting it on YouTube.

Video of Doc is about at the 1:30 mark.

It's pretty clear that they were taking a slow and methodical approach to the whole rebuild and testing. Nobody wanted another Kee Bird.

Seems like the AF is more on keeping them and replacing them with other than the F-35..

http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2015/03/15/could-this-airplane-replace-the-a-10-warthog.aspx

Seems a bit on the light weight side and no BFG.

http://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/the-air-force-initiative-to-replace-the-a-10-warthog-is-1771018719

http://www.popularmechanics.com/military/weapons/a20376/a-10-replacement-plane-air-force-a-x/

You know, there's a reason this aircraft is 'heavy'...it's the armor protection against small arms fire...I don't think anyone in the AF understands that.

The Kee bird video is too sad on SO many levels....
God does not subtract from a man's life the number of hours spent riding a motorcycle

2008 C14, Muzzy exhaust, PCV, heated grips, Sergeant seat, PR4 GTs, Donovan headlight mod, Ronnies highway pegs, Cox rad guard, "The Big Rack", Grip Puppies, XM, many more made by me parts to come.....
