The Kee bird video is too sad on SO many levels....

Exactly! I got to believe it influenced the entire testing plan for Doc.

I can't even bare to think of the anguish they must have felt to be able to do nothing but sit in a lawn chair and watch that plane; their labor of love burn so completely down...

Due specifically and only to the idiocy of the PIC (Pilot In Command, Darryl Greenamyer) who began taxi testing and decided to make a run at a takeoff without any pre-checks to make sure all was in order for takeoff. What a freakin' idiot and he should be held entirely responsible for the complete loss of an otherwise airworthy B-29. He should pay for everything that was lost in this fiasco and reimburse all of the people who donated giant amounts of money to completely overhaul all four engines plus props and everything else that needed restoring on this aircraft.

I wouldn't let him ride a rusty tricycle after this.

Talk about PIC massive screw up. 16 dead in a hot air balloon over the weekend near me in TX. The #1 decision a hot air balloon pilot has to make is weather to fly or not. I didn't even know they had balloons that big. It was a commercial operation and willing to bet a paycheck that the wind was iffy and business concerns overrode flight safety. So sad.

Yeah, a slight shift of about 20' to his right and he would have been one with the earth. A little too far off center to me...

I bet that last 500 feet used up all the adrenaline in his body, assuming he had any left.

Maybe. Maybe not. I'd love to try that. The rush has got to be OFF THE HOOK!!!!
