Rotrex + ZX = Fun :)
« on: July 25, 2012, 10:02:40 PM »
Someone requested that I plink a couple pics and descriptions up when I got this thing running.... so here it is. Everything is prototype phase atm; no pretty finished brackets or paint. Dyno work was done up in phoenix @ KMS the other day. For a baseline, a stock '08 model made 140-144 on the same dyno. Still need to work out a few bugs with the belt drive and external bearing support, but it made pretty good gains for just 5psi. With the kinks worked out I'm looking at making 8-10 psi on this motor, 15ish on another motor when I get the funds to build it.

Cheers :)

Still plugging away at fuel mapping... bike is alive and well. Just a hair under 10psi at peak (12700) rpm... over 4psi @ 6500. Getting fun to ride. This is a quick shot of a 4th gear pull from a little under 50mph to nearly redline. Not too shabby for a 200lb guy wearing a backpack on an unfaired bike.  ;D

It's MPH, about 8-9% off from gearing, speedo error, and tire size. :) Run started just under 50mph in 4th gear.... any gear lower than that and I sometimes have some headshake issues.... I'm ironing that out with a damper upgrade when I can afford it.

even figuring 10% over on the speedo, that's 50-150+ quick, fast, and in a big damn hurry!

I've datalogged it in 4th; it pulls from about 5.5K to redline in about 10 seconds, give or take. It does the same thing in 2nd gear in less than 3 seconds. :)

Here's another new one. They're both 2007 ZX-10r's. His is fully faired, Ti-Force full system, and 185lb rider... and starting in FIRST GEAR. My bike only has the nose fairing, I'm about 205-210lbs suited, stock exhaust w/baffles removed, and starting from SECOND gear.

ZX-10R Comparison Pull (Supercharged Vs. NA)

Fun.

For those who like to follow the mildly insane: I've decided to change up the project a bit. Here's a teaser pic of the new power adder for the ZX-10R. Shooting for 10psi till I get the bugs worked out, and then 16ish once I finish building the spare motor. Note the ultra-short runner design.... with TBC I'm anticipating that I can get a GT28 with the big exhaust housing (.86 A/R) to spin up past full boost threshold before 5.5K rpm on a 10R.

Should be fun........ >:)
