KDS V3
« on: February 09, 2018, 04:51:00 PM »
I know that there is a KDS3 system out there sitting in a drawer, long forgotten and waiting to be used.  If you have one that is not vital to you I ask that you consider selling it - to me.  My local mechanic has taken care of his Christmas fund for the next three years thanks to me.  I would rather not send his kids to college.

If you don't have one but know about one for sale I would appreciate the lead.  Thanks.

Just a little bump in case anyone finds a KDS just lying around taking up space.

Still looking for the correct software.  I now have 2 versions, neither of which has my new KIPASS ECU in the database.  Maybe someone out there has the newest KDS3 version and needs to backup their software?  I would be happy to help.  :)

You can order the software from Kawasaki separately.  It is not too expensive.  IIRC less than $50.
09 Concours aka Cruncher: Corbin Canyon Dual Sport (Laam for longer trips, Corbin Modular with Smuggler for mid-length trips), Top Blocks, Penske 8983, Traxxion AK20s, Helibars Horizon ST bars w/Galfer SS +6 lines, MRA Vario Touring Windscreen/Madstad brackets (Copper Dawg on the way),  Area P full system, throttle tamer, Steve's Flash.

I thought we could only get dealer discards.  I can get it from the Kawasaki site?  Really?

Pretty steep learning curve associated with this particular tool.  And that is all that it is - a tool.  Kawi has a death grip on their software.  Getting an up-to-date version is proving to be a challenge.

Not true. I bought a new version of the software from a dealer for less than $50 iirc.  I'll dig up the info in a few hours.

My offer to create a secure backup still stands.  You never know when you when you will need to recover data.

Yep.  Still in the market for the most recent patch to KDS Ver. 3.  I now own 3.0.9.1 and 3.0.9.2.  I ran across this today:

https://rivaracing.com/i-17283304-kawasaki-diagnostic-software-v3-0-9-4.html

What I would like to know is this...  Is 3.0.9.4 the most recent patch or is there a newer version?  And, perhaps, where and how I might obtain the most recent version.  I know it is a watercraft site...  Does that matter as far as KDS software is concerned?

Anyone?

Part number:  57001-1802

Ver 3.0.9.4   I ordered it thru a dealer and got it a few days later.

If you Google that p/n it will come up with the 2016 training package for KDS in .pdf format.

KDS3 update of sorts.  I obtained a used Dealer Kit from ebay that has the original version of the software.  Through the years there have been "updates" to the database as new versions of the hardware (ECU's mostly) have rolled out.  My new KIPASS ECU was in one of those updates so I had to find the version of the software that included it.  It is a hit-and-miss process since the updates aren't widely documented and you can't tell which ECU is supported by the updates.  Also, the KDS is not Concours specific.  The program is used for tuning tons of Kawasaki gear (snowmobiles, quads, jetskis, and Motorcycles).  It still confuses the crap outta me when I search for KDS solutions for the Connie.

Add to that the need to run KDS on XP and I needed a cheapo laptop - got one from craigslist.  Anyhow, my KDS is up and running mostly because I got help from a fellow rider on this forum.

PM me and maybe we can get your toolbox set up.
