I think I've figured out my next "bike"
« on: November 07, 2012, 09:43:35 PM »
I have this stupid rule. Only one bike in the garage. I love my Connie but she is a big girl for running quick errands to town and I live just far enough away to make the bicycle not a great option. Okay there's also the 500' elevation gain in the last two miles on narrow twisty roads with no shoulder coming back also. Well my boss has an Aprillia SR50 scooter with all of 40 miles on the clock he'll sell to me at a fair price. Great in town transportation and bonus, the wife said she'd learn to ride it and she has shown zero interest in being anything other then a passenger. Breaking my stupid rule is easy to rationalize because it is not a motorcycle, it's a scooter.

Any thoughts? I mean aside from the "riding a scooter is like dating a fat chick..."
If it can't be fixed with a hammer you can sure as hell teach it a lesson.

One bike, one scooter in the garage. Nothig wrong with that. Besides, if anyone asks, it's your wife's scoot.  ;)

What is wrong with having more than one bike in the garage?  Of course you may have other toys in there that we don't know about.

Yes.....1 bike rule is stupid.

I agree, bikes get lonely too.  Plus, what do you do when a buddy comes out from far (my old buds in Akron,OH) away and wants to ride.

By the way I have a Honda 110 scooter in the garage that is my wife's ride.
I want a T-Max for my scoot though.

Jeezzz Tom V you and that avatar.  :o

I like it. "Naw, it ain't mine it's the wife's scooter."

The Connie ain't lonely there are are about ten bicycles in the garage. Pedal bikes, my other obsession. Also my 2003 Honda Insight. The Connie is always giving the Insight crap for being slow but the Insight scoffs and calls the Connie a gas hog. It never ends between those two but I lov'em both.

Over 130,000 miles on the Insight. Avereage mpg since day one has been 69mpg. This is the original Insight, not the new Prius wannabe. Had it up to 113 mph once on a downhill just to say I did. In the Insight community there is a saying, "80mpg @ 50mph or 50 mpg @ 80 mph." it is pretty spot on actually.

right now i have a z1000 and the connie.  I have talked about getting a honda ruckas, ninja 250, or sportster when the z1000 dies.  same concept.

BUT i will say the concourse has became my goto vehical.  I almost never drive the truck and the z1000 doesnt have the cargo space.  I even grocery shop with the connie anymore.

DONE !!!!

The Aprillia SR50 came home with me tonight inspite of a less then auspicious start. Rode the thing from the seller's house back to the shop in the rain (hey, I am in SoCal rain is like, well you know...). At the bottom of the hill from his house I grabbed a fist full of left hand lever to pull in the clutch. That was exciting a little. Then it stalls at a light a mile from the shop. At this piont I have had exactly z-e-r-o instruction and know pretty much nothing about scooters. It doesn't want to start. Sigh, rain and pushing. Once I make it back I am asked if I held the brake lever while trying to start it. DOH !!!

Time to R.T. F. M.

Geez, my wife has the same rule.  And she is totally insane.
