Short Windscreen??

Just picked up a C10 yesterday. Quite a beast.

I'm 5'10" and dont think I'll be needing a tall windscreen, no plans to ride in bitter cold.

Previous owner said the windscreen started to "fog up" (I guess plastic started scuffing and whatnot) so for whatever reason decided to just spray paint the inside of the windscreen black instead of trying to restore it. so here's me in all my 5'10" glory trying to ride this thing looking over a 20" opaque black windshield.... 

So my options are to either try to strip the paint off the windscreen, cut it down to size and try to "de-fog" it, or to go aftermarket and get a shorty.

Problem is, can't find short windscreens anywhere, and when I do find them they're hundreds of dollars or expensive to ship from EU -> US.

Anyone have a better vendor for short screens or for affordable OEM replacements that I can alter myself? Honestly I'm shocked it's so hard to find these...

dang, that's genius! might give this a shot.

What did you use to make the cuts? I've got a dremel and some disc cutters....

how did you replicate the black part of the windshield? spray? might try it with some thin black weatherstripping type foam to get a good seal.

Hand coping saw and rattle can black paint. Sanded the edges after cutting.

I ordered a 13" from rifle but that would cost more than you want , especially with shipping . I love the shorter shield and am surprised that folks are always looking for taller shields . The bike is so much more sporty looking and moves around in the wind much less . Nice and comfy in the heat now too .

nice ride! tipover or crash bars are on my list... inevitable that this beast goes down shuffling it into the garage.

I agree, simple things like that really start to un-dadify the bike a bit. thing is an absolute beast but looks like a turtle sometimes.

I looked into the rifle system but was a bit turned off by the nature of a 2-peice design (price, too LOL).

It's also a preference of mine to see as much of the road through the plastic as possible. Call me crazy, but being able to see more of the road, even if you're not meant to be looking at it, just feels better. Has an optical effect of making you feel like you're going faster, too, since the road is more perpendicular to your view the closer you look. I consider it a safety feature, especially when its so easy to 0-60 this thing.

I used to have a 26" tall screen on mine (including the 5" Rifle base), but since I now rarely ride in winter I don't need it any more.
My current screen is a cut down dark tinted PowerBronze screen and suits me just fine for Spring/Summer/Fall riding in the UK & EU.
