I had one of these just before my Concours.  It was the 2nd best bike I ever owned and the best looking.

I remember seeing this on the showroom floor back in 85 I was a junior in high school and I thought this was the best looking bike ever made at the time.

The Ducati 916's are truly beautiful and iconic bikes, in my opinion. The '90 - '97 VFR 750's are also gorgeous.

that!

2nd to that, the Honda SuperMagna (in dark blue) from 1987 is a bike that'll stay in my heart. I was living in Argentina in 1995, finishing engineering at university, and a friend of a friend of a friend just imported a VF700C from the US of A, 1985 model. I had it for 3 years and had a blast with it, but it was ugly. Years later I saw the SuperMagna in a magazine and promised myself I'll had one one day. Not yet, though  :'(

Define best looking.  I think its something that makes you want to come back to see it again and again.  Kind of like the girl down the street.  This is still my all-time favorite.  The 73-74 Elsinore's.  I had just started racing the 125 class when they came on the scene.  Everyone just drooled all over them.  I left an XR-75 for a KX-125. Simplistic, but high-tech (for the time), an exquisite sound (it hurt your ears but sounded so awesome), the smell of Bel-Ray mixed in the fuel, watching it spit from the exhaust and blow on your hand - pure heaven on earth.  There is still nothing like the sound of a 250cc 2-stroke screaming on a track or winding out across a field.  Yeah, some people find that annoying now - not me.

The V-Max is second on my list.  I saw one at Americade years ago (early 90s) that was completely chromed out including the frame and bottle of NOX.  Red and blue fiting everywhere.  Supercharger (not tubo) hanging out and off the side.  It had a slightly stretched rear end.  It also had NJ tags the said: "IL-WIN".  Impressive.  The pic attached isn't it, just kind of similar.

Amazing how many of you are picking based on the fairings.

Personally, I like to see the engine...yeah, I have a C14.  So sue me.

Any Guzzi twin.  Pure sex on wheels.

Honda CBX.  Audacious, in your face engine.

Ducati Diana 250.  Purity defined.

Norton Commando 850.  Laverda Jota 1000.  Looks fast standing still.

Paint all those fairing-wrapped bikes gray, and we would all be wandering around the lot trying to find the one that our key fit.  Just sayin.

I have found a disconnect between a great looking bike and a great riding bike.  Many of the faired bikes become easily dated mainly based on the improvement in lighting technology.

My best looking bike is based on style, flow, and color scheme.

I owned one just like this. I had great respect for that bike. I dont know about the best looking but at the time it was pretty fast. I remember playing around with a V-Max thinking the V-Max was faster. It was not. I remember changing brake pads  on it. No tools needed. Just push, install and pump it up. It took less then a minute.

The ELR is my favorite also- too bad they are all so expensive now. I missed my chance 30 years ago.
