Title: New guy, So Cal
Post by: rwnielsen on February 23, 2015, 10:57:20 PM
Hi all
I've always been a sporty bike kinda guy but I'm just getting too old (61 in March) to ride them. I still love to push myself on a twisty road and I've always loved horsepower. I sold my last (I think) sport bike (S1000RR) two weeks after my 60th birthday. I've been on the ADV forum for about 8 years and found this place through the COG forum.  Anyways..... I bought a 2012 C-14 about a week ago. $9400
It's got just over 10k on it and a few farkles already. I've read a bunch of posts on both of these forums and look forward to seeing some of you hooligans on a ride sometime.
Thanks
Richard

Thanks guys
I already ordered a radiator guard, some bag liners and a 2-Brothers can for it. I've never really had a bike I could ride any distance before but I'm thinking of a couple over- nighter's. I also learned that you really have to watch your speed. I've had a few fast bikes but going fast was always more deliberate. I put one of those bar-end throttle locks on and hopefully it will help me be more "lawful". We'll see.

It's so easy to speed on this bike without intention. I added an Escort Passport 9500x for that exact reason. Sure I speed intentionally but lots of times I see the flash of my Marc Parnes visual warning from my Escort and realize I'm 10 over without even thinking about it.

The bike came with an Adaptiv detector mounted. I don't have the manual for it but I don't think it has a warning feature.

*edit* I just got the manual on their website.
