Title: New member from Western Colorado
Post by: Buzzard63 on July 12, 2014, 03:50:36 PM
I have recently purchased a used 2008 Concours 14, and am equipping it to meet my needs. I have already used information from this site in decision making, as to what works, and what other's experience has been. I also have a 1998 Honda VFR800, a great bike, but my body is protesting too many hours in that saddle, aging at work. That's where the Concours comes in. I intend it to be a sporty touring bike.  I've installed a Cal Sci windshield, which I really like. I bought a Saddleman's Explorer RS seat, which is a disappointment. The new seat is better than stock (not saying much), but not all day comfortable. I'm talking with Baldwin now, going to have one made. Then, heated grips, and I'm set. This Concours is a fantastic bike, I still marvel at how well it handles.

Yes, I really like my 14. I live where I live because of the riding, and that we are not near any big metropolis. This 2008 I just bought came with a new set of PR2s, never got to try the stock tires. My thoughts on bikes, at this point in my life, is that I would like to own as many of the bikes that I have admired as I can. Financially, I can only own a couple at a time, so I've been trading from one to the next. I was shopping for a Hayabusa or ZX14 when I came upon my VFR800. I like the VFR so much, the trading stopped, I couldn't bring myself to sell it off. Well now, I've about given up off road, sold my KTM, and replaced it with the Concours 14. If I can get the seat comfort thing solved, I can quit worrying that I am old enough to need a Gold Wing.

Nothing wrong w/ a Wing... traded an 06 ABS Wing for my 09 C14 after I moved here.  The Wing was great for those nice long open Texas roads.  8)

Welcome to the site.

I hope I never get old enough to buy a double-butt Gold Wing.
