hi all ,i have a C10 1990 in the uk ,had first long run on it with the girlfriend up to edinburgh ,round trip of approx 800 mile, and she wasnt impressed by the buffeting that she felt at 80 mph (i was fine !).the screen that is on is a givi that's been cut down to 17 " , i also have a 19 " screen with a "kick" at the top and looks fairly standard
bearing in mind i m in the uk and due to postage costs a lot of gear is very expensive here ,is this the best i m going to get ?
the bike was very good all round ,motorway ,twisty bits no problem 45 mpg ;D
any ideas /comments welcomed

Ah frugality. Home-made from 3mm lexan:

Read the Windshields FAQ for more info than you'd ever want regarding screens. Quickly though, you might want to install the taller shield. Test ride it with her at speed. If she still feels uncomfortable trim off the "kick". No change? Then consider some kind of vent. Either some simple holes or a Rifle or Cee Bailey style vent. Then there's always George's route and get a sheet of Lexan and design your own, taller and wider like the MRA Arizona shield.

If the windshield mods don't yield the results you're looking for then consider Fairing Extenders or Air Wings that would throw the air normally pushed aside by the fairing further out where it will hopefully rejoin the flow behind your lady.

What works for some might not work for others so it might take some experimenting on your part.
Have you considered a new girlfriend??? ;)

A bike was wind tunnel tested here in Australia in 2005. The results of the test can be read here: http://gtr1000.yuku.com/topic/617/speed-wobbles-a-0-kph (http://gtr1000.yuku.com/topic/617/speed-wobbles-a-0-kph)
Interesting.
