Are the lowers a different type of plastic?

ZG, stop daydreaming!

There was a post a while back where someone painted them... I want to say it was a different green bike... Can't remember what the post was about, tho.

As long as they are prepped and primered properly I think it would still work fine for paint...  :-\

Well I've been trying to find some real carbon fiber ones for quite awhile now to no avail, so I think I'm leaning towards just painting em to match I guess...  :-\

Thanks, ya I remember the black pics but they don't really show as well, I am hoping to see some more shots of lighter colors and how they look, that green pic I've seen before and think they blend pretty good.  :-\

Yeah, the black ones just look like lots of shadows, until you see a hint of a reflection.

I remember a different green pic, but can't find it for the life of me. I think you're just going to have to do it to your bike, then post some high-res pics for the archives.

Yes.  It is far softer and more flexible.  I am not sure it will take it paint very well unless it is a somewhat flexible type (like they use on modern, squishy bumpers)

Since they are already black, I can't imagine why anyone would WANT to paint them black, unless they are all damaged or something... and in that case, the damage would show through paint (so perhaps think bedliner or something in that case?)

Matching Kawi green as the rest of my current bodywork on for now...

I just scored a rashed but usable right side lower for $40 shipped off ebay.  :)

And I spoke to the Cap'n this morning and he's got the left side lower for me from back when he dropped his C14 on day one of purchase, so all that's left is the cost of paint, prep, painting...  ;) ;D

You could cover what you have with carbon fiber , spray with a few coats of clear.

FWIW the lower pieces already have a coating on them, it just happens to be a low gloss finish.  They took all of a few minutes to paint.  I'm debating painting my bike a different color and if I decide to do so they will have to be painted since I don't think gloss black will look good down there on another color.  ;D
