Hello from east-central Illinois
« on: March 15, 2014, 07:47:42 am »
Greetings all, my name is Mark and I go by “WillyBiker” on here and also on the COG forum.  I have been riding motorcycles since I was 12 years old, and that was in 1968, so you can do the math and see the I’m getting to be an old fart, but still very active.  Was fortunate enough to grow up in a rural area with lots of room to ride dirt bikes off road and also had lots of rural county roads that allowed my buddies and me to get our road bike “legs” under us at an early age.  My parents were not too thrilled about my interest in motorcycles, thought them too dangerous, but they allowed me to pursue what they thought would be a short lived hobby and past time.  Well, here I am, almost 58 years old and still riding.  Don’t think there’s been a time in the last 46 years, other than a few months, that I haven’t had some type of bike.
Anyway, been riding Goldwings since 1984, with a Harley Softail thrown in for something different for a few years.
My wife doesn’t ride with me as much as she used to, so I decided I'd like to try a sport-touring bike on for size.  Had been looking around for the last year or so for a late model used ST1300, FJR or Connie, but just hadn’t come across the right one.  While I was working in the Houston area this past winter I got to noticing that a lot of dealers still had new 2012 & 2013 C14s in inventory, so I got to doing a little shopping around and ended up bringing home an new Arabian red 2012 Concours.   I’ve only owned it for a couple months, and between work and weather, I’ve only been able to put just a little over 500 miles on it.  But I believe I’m going to like this bike just fine.  “Let the good times roll!”  :)
Oh, and of course I’ve still got my 1800 Wing for when the wife wants to come along.
